Creator Blessed!
by Patricia Hodge
My blessed Creator,
My blessed Creator,
You are the breath of all life,
the pulling pulse of the tides,
the whisper through forest and stream,
the weightless wing of the monarch.
You are the spark that set the sun
to warm the Earth
and the fur of the beast,
the back of the laborer,
the face of the flower,
the ripening plum.
You are the bird’s song,
the lover’s sigh,
the laughter of children,
the poor man’s cry,
You are the V of the geese,
the yoke of the ox,
the pod of the whale,
the troope of the ape.
You blessed Creator are
the race of the salmon,
the strength of the oak,
the dance of the planets
and the small quiet joke
between knowers of truth
and faith and grace.
You are the urgent beckoning,
breaking open seeds of grain,
of promise, of purpose, of feast .
Yours alone is the power
to mend what we break,
to give out of bounty,
to unite us in peace.
We are Creator Blessed!
